Dear Pleasant Valley Families and Friends,

We are excited to be opening Helen Aldrich Park, Bower Park and Recreation Park facilities on July 1st.  We have been very busy working on sorely needed maintenance on our parks that have required repairs for a long time.   Thanks to our maintenance department and the Pleasant Valley Highway Department we have replenished the playground surfaces.  Two truckloads of safety chips, one truckload to Helen Aldrich Playground & one truckload to Recreation Park Playground were delivered and distributed onto the playground surfaces.  In addition, some equipment maintenance was done.
Bower Park also received attention by eliminating the pot holes and resurfacing the driveway and the parking lot.  In addition, we have increased the size of the parking lot thanks to Pleasant Valley Highway Department’s hard work.  We are happy to say our walking trails will also be open the 1st.  They have been trimmed and are ready for your enjoyment.  Lastly, the soccer fields are in great shape and ready for practice!
The ball fields at Helen Aldrich Park and Recreation Park - Baker Field and Cady Field - will be ready for practice July 1st.  We thank Pleasant Valley Little League for their help in getting Baker Field ready for use.
Our tennis court at Helen Aldrich has been cleared of any debris and ready for ‘singles only’ play.
Unfortunately, we do not know if ACSD will allow us to use the West Road Fields.  We have been mowing these fields in the hopes we will be able to use them in the near future.
We will continue to accomplish other needed maintenance throughout the summer.
Thank you for your patience in these uncertain times.

June 26, 2020  AMPED FOR CAMP

Knowing how disappointed all of us here at PV Rec were in having to cancel Camp Sunny Days 2020, we can only imagine how it affected everyone in our community as well.  And while we know that nothing can compare with physically attending summer camp daily, we are excited to be able to offer you somewhat of a silver lining.
We have joined forces with other Parks & Recreation Departments and we are ‘AMPED FOR CAMP – no matter what’. This is a collaborative project brought to you by Parks & Recreation professionals and friends from multiple agencies in the Hudson Valley for the love of camp and our communities.  Determined to create an enriching summer despite our current challenges, members from the Hudson Valley Leisure Services Association (HVLSA) and beyond are coming together to provide this website as a one-stop resource for our local camps and families.
We invite you to take a look at what happens when multiple communities come together with one unified goal…CHILDREN!
For more information go to  and prepare to get “Amped for Camp”.

    COVID 19 Update   June 20, 2020

Dear Pleasant Valley Families and Friends,

We appreciate the community’s diligence, perseverance and patience during these most trying times.  With the school year winding down we know you are looking for things to do with your family.  We are in the process of getting the parks ready to open.  We want to ensure the facilities are meeting the necessary safety guidelines before we open.
We are currently working on the playgrounds at both Helen Aldrich Park and Recreation Park.  We are also working on the Baker and Cady ball fields and with the help of the PV Highway Department working on the Bower Park driveway and parking lot.
We are tentatively planning on opening these park facilities July 1st.  Stay tuned for further updates.

    COVID 19 Update   June 3, 2020

    Pleasant Valley Family and Friends
The Town of Pleasant Valley continues to keep the health and well-being of all our residents and staff our utmost concern.
In light of Governor Cuomo’s recent decision to allow the operation of camps, the Town of Pleasant Valley will continue to honor our decision to not hold day camp due to the evolving Guidelines from New York State, the CDC, and NYS Department of Health. This makes it very difficult to plan for all the emerging contingencies and to guarantee they will be implemented correctly to ensure both campers and staff will be safe.
We look forward to the time when we all will be together again.
    Councilman Frank Mazzella
Deputy Supervisor, Town of Pleasant Valley

    COVID 19 Update

    Pleasant Valley Family and Friends,
We are thinking of you and hope you and your family are coping with our new reality and remember we will all be together again.  We will be making major changes to our programming and events while keeping the safety of you and the community as the highest priority.  Specific modifications have not be established yet but we are working with the New York State Guidelines and Dutchess County Health Department.

We wanted to update you at this point in time.

Town of Pleasant Valley parks remain Closed
New York State has temporarily closed the following until further notice:
All playgrounds, athletic fields and basketball courts
    Camp Sunny Days Day Camp
As of this date, the decision of whether we will operate a Day Camp program this summer has not been definitely made. We hope to make a decision within the next couple of weeks.  If you have a PVREC account, you should have received a quick survey regarding camp.
If camp were to occur, it will be at the Helen Aldrich Park site due ACSD mandate that all buildings and grounds are closed.
We are working with the Dutchess County Health Department to develop a plan to run our program in such a way that will protect the health and safety of our campers, their families, our staff and the overall Pleasant Valley community. This plan will meet CDC Guidelines, NYS and Dutchess County Emergency Orders as well as Dutchess
County Health Department requirements. In the next several weeks we are expecting further clarification about these requirements.
